National Honor Society
Willamette High School Chapter
Unveiled over a century ago, the National Honor Society enshrines four pillars at its heart: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. More than mere badges of honor for NHS members, these principles are transformative keys that unlock potential, enhancing every student’s educational journey, and ultimately empowering them to make profound, enduring contributions to our world.
To be eligible for membership the candidate must be a member of the sophomore or junior class. Candidates must have been in attendance at Willamette High School for an entire school year or have served in a chapter at another school without interruption of attendance. Candidates must have a cumulative, weighted scholastic average of at least 3.6. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership and character.
Once membersip is established through participation in the Tapping Ceremony, members are expected to maintain a minimum 3.6 GPA, attend monthly meetings, participate in at least 2 group events, and complete a total of 150 hours of community service. Seniors who complete all requirements for particiaption in NHS will be awarded with a medallion and cord to wear at graduation to share the honor of being a part of this organization.
