Navigating student illnesses

Across the district and Lane County, students are missing school because they may be sick with influenza (the flu) or flu-like illnesses. Please keep your student at home if they have a fever of 100.4°F or other illness symptoms like cough, body aches, sore throat, intestinal disturbance. Stay home until fever has been gone for 24 hours, without using fever reducing medicines (such as Advil or Tylenol).

Read about the illness and what to do here:
If your student is experiencing other medical conditions and is having flu symptoms, contact their healthcare provider. They may prescribe antiviral medication to prevent more severe illness complications.

What is Anonymous Alerts?

Anonymous Alerts is a safety and anti-bullying reporting app that allows students, parents, and community members to share concerns with school staff—anonymously if they choose. The system supports secure one-way or two-way communication and helps students speak up without fear of peer pressure.

Reports can be submitted through the Bethel website by clicking the Anonymous Alerts link, or by downloading the free Anonymous Alerts app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Chrome Store.
App users will need the activation code bethelsd to log in.

Users can include photos, videos, or screenshots when submitting a report.

In an emergency, always call 9-1-1.

Bethel’s Green Teams

Bethel School District and the Recycling Modernization Act
Oregon’s new Recycling Modernization Act is in full force in Bethel Schools. This new law is for Oregon’s businesses and residents and is a law that helps make recycling easier and more reliable for families. It creates one clear list of items that can be recycled statewide, so families don’t have to guess what goes in the bin. Companies that make and sell products now help pay for recycling, which takes pressure off local communities. The law improves recycling services in apartments, condos, and rural areas, so more families have access. It also upgrades recycling facilities to better sort materials and keep recyclables from becoming trash. Families will see more education and simple guidance on how to recycle correctly at home. By reducing contamination, the RMA helps keep recycling costs down and protects the environment. Overall, the RMA supports cleaner neighborhoods and a healthier future for Oregon families. Not sure what goes where? Download the Waste Wise Lane County app here. Bethel Green Teams are focused on implementing the RMA in each of our schools to provide a cleaner tomorrow for our community. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, reach out to Ellie.Owens@Bethel.K12.OR.US.
